Chase Duddy (producer, drummer, songwriter) and Paige Duddy (sister) make up the electro-pop duo XYL (vocalist, songwriter). Their grandfather was a well-known jazz drummer, studio percussionist, and chair of the drum department at the Los Angeles College of Music.
Early Life
His two grandchildren both went to college following in his footsteps. Despite a gap of ten years they bonded through music and started working on their debut single in 2014.
Career
The duo released their hit track “America” in 2015, that drew comparisons with Lana Del Ray and Lorde. It was noticed when it was used in the PacSun commercial featuring Kendall Kylie Jenner and Kendall. The ad campaign led to the track gaining more than 1.6 million listeners on SoundCloud and reaching the top position on the Hypemachine.
The same year came out with “Afterlife” and performed their debut headline show on the streets of Los Angeles as part of the Oh Wonder tour. The band signed in 2015 with Sony Music Entertainment. At the beginning of 2016, The band XYLO announced intentions to drop their debut EP, which would include all of their singles previously released. “America ” EP ” America ” EP came out in February and was followed with the American tour to accompany it.
Also, they released a track that was titled “Fool’s Paradise,” protesting against Donald Trump. In 2016, they appeared on Chainsmokers song “Setting Fires” from their College EP.
In the next year, they released two songs “I Still Wait for You” and “Alive.” In 2018 they released more singles which included “Heaven Only Knows” and “Tears & Tantrums.” Their hit song “Nothing Left to Say” was released in the early part of 2019.
